AoL: Live at the BBC
A live set recorded at BBC Hull.
Atom of Lunar, a psychedelic rock band based in Hull, performed a live set recorded by BBC Introducing in Hull. Having shot some of there gigs previously, I wanted to capture the live performance with a raw feel to it. I shot it completely handheld capturing the 4 piece as creatively and equally as possible. I allowed movement pulling focus points aiming to vary compositions, except the background made this challenging. Colour didn’t come up great. The room being cluttered with cables running like grass - wide angles where almost out the question. With some careful editing the video came out great considering it was shot on an old camera.
Across the summer we shot a short film in Aldborough named Falling Rocks, with scenes shot on the clifftop overlooking the North Sea. Having helped AoL previously, shooting live gigs and social media photography, they were interested in merging the projects and so we shot a Music Video for their single ‘Northern Lights.’ We shot it on the same clifftop in a different season, with a backdrop of an abandoned farm being bulldozed and the nearby offshore windfarm.
